Kiosk content management solution

Our client is a US-based company specializing in both hardware and software development for interactive kiosks. Among their customers are retail, trading, travel and many other public and private companies that rely on extended options an interactive kiosk has to offer: familiarizing or fact-finding tours at museums and exhibits, training programs, wayfinding and navigation, self-service ordering or check-in, purchasing, etc.

The collaboration between the client and EffectiveSoft started more than ten years ago, right after a new game-changer, Apple’s iPad, had entered the kiosk industry. So when our client reached out to our company in the hopes of developing content management software for iPad, we were happy to help.

We created a neat kiosk software solution for iOS and iPadOS that can be used independently or in combination with a remote management server.

Our software makes it easy to manage and display web-friendly content, including web pages, PDF, audio and video. To do so, a kiosk owner:

• Purchases the subscription depending on desired features.
• Defines the content to be displayed.
• Сonfigures how the content is displayed and how a user interacts with software.
• Runs the presentation.

Remote update and administration

A kiosk owner can manage the content from any location by connecting to the remote server or by synchronizing files and folders across devices with the Dropbox account.

The remote server also provides software updates, usage statistics, and kiosk status tracking.

Offline operations

If the Internet connection is poor, the solution allows users to store content directly on the iPad.

Connection to external screens

The software can be connected to an external monitor. The tablet content can be mirrored on an additional screen as well as transferred to the screen through the API and displayed in the full-screen mode.

Limited access

To keep the visitor’s focus on the required content, access to other sites and apps through the kiosk tablet can be restricted.

Content refresh

Our solution automatically clears information and passwords upon the end of the session and refreshes the content.

Peripheral devices and APIs support

Our solution can be integrated with a variety of peripherals like printers, card readers, and barcode scanners. In addition, to extend control over presentations via the JavaScript calls APIs are offered.
