A comprehensive trading ecosystem for City Index

Our client, City Index, is a world leader in spread betting, contracts for differences (CFDs), and margined foreign exchange (FX), offering traders access to 12,000+ markets, including forex, indices, shares, and commodities. Its parent company—GAIN Capital Holdings Inc. (NYSE: GCAP)—is one of the largest retail and institutional trading providers globally.

To support investment and trading activities in both stable environments and while on the move, the client wanted to create a full-fledged trading ecosystem that would include:

• A desktop platform for Windows
• A mobile app for iOS and Android

The client’s main requirements for the solutions were high speed, excellent performance, and uninterrupted operation, all of which were challenging to achieve on different platforms.

To realize the project, City Index turned to EffectiveSoft. Our extensive experience in trading platform development and proven track record of related projects were the key reasons the client entrusted us with the mission.

EffectiveSoft’s specialists first created a detailed software requirements specification (SRS) outlining the components, architectural design, and features of the proposed apps. We then initiated the development process, simultaneously working on the trading platform for Windows and the mobile app for iOS and Android.

Desktop trading platform

Our team built a desktop trading app, AT Pro, that targets experienced users seeking powerful analytics tools, advanced charts, custom trading strategies, and reliable performance. Using optimized RAM usage, the platform can operate for weeks without downtime.

Mobile app

We also created a cross-platform mobile app, City Trading™, designed for iOS and Android devices. The app provides full and secure access to trading accounts on smartphones and tablets, allowing users to place orders directly from charts and make informed investment decisions, no matter where they are.

The comprehensive trading ecosystem created by our experts allows investors to easily monitor changes in volatile financial markets and perform a wide range of activities in their accounts, including:

The City Trading™ mobile app was named Financial Times Innovation of the Year and captured the “Best Mobile Trading Platform” title at the MoneyAM Online Finance Awards.
